We are conscious of the fact that worship is the freeway to the presence of God, so we worship in spirit and in truth for a full experience as in the days of old.
THE COMMISSION
How it all began
Pa. Pastor Josiah Akindayomi
Founder of the Commission
Pastor & Pastor Mrs. Adeboye
General Overseer of the Commission
In July 1909, a son was born into the Akindayomi family of Ondo State of Nigeria. Even though this child grew up surrounded by idol worshippers, he knew there existed a greater power and yearned to know,
“The God who created the earth and everyone on it”. This pursuit for God led him to the Church Missionary Society where he was baptized in 1927. Still spiritually unfulfilled, he joined the Cherubim and Seraphim church in 1931.
Whilst there, he began to hear a voice within him saying, “You will be my servant.” Since this was not his intention, he decided to ignore the voice. This went on for seven years during which all the business ventures that he tried resulted into failure. In debt and without peace of mind, he found himself totally dependent on the grace of God. Here marked the beginning of a definite relationship with God. Totally broken, he yielded saying, “Lord, I will go wherever you want me to go.” He asked for signs to confirm that this was indeed God’s call. The confirmation came through the Bible passages of Jeremiah 1:4-10, Isaiah 41:10-13 and Romans 8:29-31.
The Lord assured him that He would provide for all his needs, as he would not receive any salary from that point on. This proved to be a comforting reminder during the trials in the months ahead. He became married in 1941. He continued to worship with the Cherubim and Seraphim. In 1947, he started to become concerned that the church was departing from the true Word of God in some of its practices. By 1952, he felt totally persuaded to leave the church. He started at Willoughby Street, Ebute-Metta, Lagos a housefellowship called, the Glory of God Fellowship. Initially there were nine members but before long the fellowship rapidly grew as the news of the miracles that occurred in their midst spread.

SCROLLING ANNOUNCEMENTS
TODAY'S
WOMAN
I have grown up in a generation in which terms such as “women's lib,” “feminism,” “equal rights,” and “egalitarian marriage” are practically household words.
Our society no longer promotes God's values for the woman. Femininity, modesty, discretion, virtue, and graciousness are seemingly relics of a bygone era—as out of place in contemporary culture as the horse and carriage.
Instead, the “ideal” woman of our age is glamorous, sophisticated, aggressive, powerful, outspoken, career-minded, independent, self-sufficient, and sensuous. She needs no one and nothing. She is in control of her own life, as well as the people and circumstances around her.
In its more radical forms, the feminist movement is easily identifiable. We associate it with efforts to eliminate all legal distinctions between men and women. We think of attempts to abolish traditional family structures (such as monogamous marriage, husbands as providers, mothers as nurturers), and to replace them with deviant alternatives (free sex, homosexual marriages, no-fault divorce, etc.). We picture strident, angry women marching for abortion rights and salaries administered by "comparable worth."
As Christian women, we recognize such efforts for what they are, and we deplore and decry the obvious attack on biblical standards.
However, the women's liberation philosophy has not confined itself to the secular arena. Many not-so-obvious elements of this philosophy have penetrated and permeated our Christian institutions and homes. A bevy of supposedly-Christian periodicals, writers, and speakers have subtly promoted the self-centered, rights-oriented philosophy that is at the heart of the feminist movement. Most of us as Christian women, as well as our homes and churches, have been far more influenced by this way of thinking than we realize.
When I saw a friend’s Facebook post the other day about him being upset after he was abused by a woman for offering up his seat by that very said woman, it got me thinking, what exactly does it mean to be a gentleman in the modern age? What really goes into being a man? Consulting my friend Marco or MrVolpato.com, he pointed me to this quote from one of his posts: “Chivalry isn’t putting women on a pedestal or patronising them, and it’s no reflection of them. It’s a reflection of you.”
And I think this perfectly epitomises what being a gentleman is all about – acting so not because society expects it or we should do something, but because you genuinely want to. In my view, there’s nothing wrong with my friend wanting to offer up his seat, as it’s not a reflection on the lady but rather speaks volumes about who he is as a person: a gentleman. Embodying the gentleman lifestyle means following a set of steadfast rules. Practice makes perfect, right?
So without further adieu, here are 100 Ways To Be a Gentleman:
1. Be a good listener.
2. Be a loyal friend. Keep your word.
3. Be reliable and on time. Be punctual.
4. Be trustworthy.
5. Never pull your phone during a conversation or at dinner (even if it’s to show
